Dr. Louis Petro is a Senior Manager at Cendrowski Corporate Advisors, specializing in fraud deterrence and investigation, corporate governance, bankruptcy, information systems auditing, production and inventory controls, internal controls, and cost and managerial accounting. He has extensive experience in all of the areas noted.
Lou’s extensive engineering and manufacturing experience and his PE engineering registration, as well as his investment tax credit (ITC) and component depreciation work give him the skills needed for cost segregation studies. He has performed many cost segregation studies for the hospitality and apartment rental industries as well as for office and manufacturing facilities.
Lou was the Dean of the Lawrence Technological University School of Management from 1979 through 1989. In addition, from 1971 through 1979, Dr. Petro held consulting and auditing positions at the certified public accounting firms of Ernst and Young, Plante and Moran, and Grant Thornton. He was a Management Advisory Services Manager at Grant Thornton in Chicago immediately prior to becoming the Dean at Lawrence Technological University School of Management. Since 1969, Dr. Petro has taught auditing, systems, accounting, and finance courses at several accredited colleges and universities in Michigan and Ontario. He is currently a College Professor of Accounting in the Lawrence Technological University College of Management. Using his engineering and manufacturing background, he was heavily involved in ITC and component depreciation studies.
Prior to his auditing, teaching, and consulting career, Lou was a manufacturing engineer at the Chevrolet Division of General Motors and the General Motors Manufacturing Development Staff.
Lou remains active in continuing professional education for Certified Public Accountants, Certified Internal Auditors and Certified Managerial Accountants. He regularly conducts classes and seminars for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Oakland University Continuing Professional Education Program for Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Institute of Management Accountants. In addition, Lou has been a question writer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the United States Certified Management Accountant examination. He earned his undergraduate degree (BME in manufacturing engineering) from General Motor Institute and his MBA (Accounting) and Ph. D (Business Administration) from the University of Michigan.
