John’s experience includes litigation support, business valuations, dispute advisory services, fraud investigations, forensic accounting, and consultation in connection with closely-held entities. John has performed numerous audits of time and material contracts for compliance with contract terms and to identify erroneous charges. John also specializes in tax planning and consulting for partnerships, corporations and individuals. He is an expert in issues related to taxation of real estate, securities and private investment vehicles (hedge funds, private equity funds and venture capital funds).
John began his career with Cusmano & Co., P.C., in Troy, Michigan, providing auditing, accounting and consulting services. John additionally worked for Purdy, Donovan & Beal, P.C., in Birmingham, Michigan prior to joining CCA in 1988. John has authored articles appearing in Michigan CPA, and has presented at various business conferences. He is an admitted expert witness in various federal and circuit courts, and the Michigan Public Service Commission. John is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
John earned an M.S.T. at Walsh College, and a B.B.A. at University of Michigan, Dearborn. He received the Research Institute of America Graduate Tax Award in 1992. John is a Certified Public Accountant with Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Certified Valuation Analyst. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at Walsh College where he teaches courses in their Masters of Science in Taxation program.
